Street children and their families have fun, hopes

/ 09:04 AM June 25, 2013

Some 640 street children and their families expressed happiness while playing various games and after receiving their food in an outreach activity organized by the Christ’s Commission Fellowship of Cebu City (CCF-Cebu) Singles’ Ministry, in cooperation with the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation–Integrated Development Center Inc.’s Child Rights and Protection Programme (JPIC’s CRP) last June 15 at the Plaza Independencia Children’s Playground in Cebu City.

The gathering was inspired by a Bible verse from Philippians 2:4-5, “Look out for one another’s interest, not just for your own. The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had.”

“Every one in the community is part of the whole system of the society,” JPIC’s CRP Programme manager Edward Lacanilao said.

“We cannot afford to watch and do nothing for others in need. God’s way is our way for this cause, show big love for others, rich or poor. This is what we desired,” Lacanilao added.

Moreover, the activity was focused on the need for the street children and homeless families to experience fun and feel the love of other people.

Ramil, a 13 year old homeless boy who stays in the street with his family at night, received a commitment of help from Dr. Robert Paul Cantoy one of the volunteer-facilitators of CCF-Cebu Singles’ Ministry.
