Choral groups hold fund-raising concert
CEBU-based choral groups La Comparza and Cebu Male Singers held a concert to raise funds for the Child’s Wish Ministry (CWM) last Aug. 13 at the University of the Philippines Cebu conference hall.
CWM is an organization that provides assistance to impoverished schoolchildren all over the country, such as tuition and school supplies, tutorial lessons, medical and dental check-ups, among others.
“We are privileged to be the beneficiary of the concert. This is a great help to our foundation since there are still scholars who don’t have sponsors yet. I consider this as God’s blessing,” said CWM programs coordinator Shiela Senining.
Senining said that aside from being a fund-raising event, the concert also served as a catalyst for the ministry, its goals and mission to be known to others.
“Through the event, people would be encouraged to help the less fortunate children who have the desire to pursue their dreams,” Senining said.
Jandel Cabasura, assistant choir conductor for La Comparza and Cebu Male Singers and music tutor for CWM, said both groups unanimously decided to adopt the ministry as beneficiary upon hearing his proposal.
