Number of dengue cases in QC up, says health exec

MANILA, Philippines – The number of dengue cases in Quezon City has increased, a health official said over 990AM Tuesday.

Dr. Rochell Paulino, officer-in-charge of the city’s health department, said that the cases here compared to last year definitely increased. “We have 1,501 dengue cases in 2010 compared to the 3,447 cases as of August this year.”

There have been 29 deaths recorded as of August compared to only 13 for the same period in 2010.

“Before dengue cases increase on rainy season, now it’s all year round,” she said.
