11 die in China building collapse; gas leak blamed

BEIJING—State media said at least 11 people were killed when an explosion caused a three-story office building to collapse in eastern China.

Xinhua News Agency said the explosion occurred Tuesday morning in an employee cafeteria of a gas sales company in the city of Suzhou, west of Shanghai. The report said nine survivors were being treated in hospitals.

Xinhua said a preliminary investigation showed a gas leak caused the blast.
