Solidarity Run to kick-off 115th Independence Day

The Cebu City government has prepared at least four activities to celebrate the nation’s 115th Independence Day today.

A Solidarity Run will kick off the celebration at 4 a.m. The run will start at the Plaza Independencia going to the Cebu Provincial Capitol then back to the Plaza. The run is to the public.

However, only the first 300 runners who have earlier registered with the Cebu City Sports Commission will receive free singlets.

A Holy Mass at the Plaza Sugbo fronting the City Hall will start at 7:30 a.m. The Mass will be followed by a flag raising ceremony in the same venue.

Attendees are encouraged to bring flaglets during the activity while organizations are also encouraged to bring a banner of their organizations for the civic military parade which will start at 2 p.m. from the Fuente Osmeña rotunda to Plaza Independencia.

The parade is open for everyone as well as organizations and institutions.

An Independence Day dinner for government officials and civic leaders will be hosted by the City Hall at the Fort San Pedro in the evening.

Also at the Plaza Independencia will be the “Bayle sa Sugbo” which will close the day-long celebration.This year’s Independence Day celebration carries the theme “Kagawasan 2013: Tampo Alang sa Halapad nga Kalambuan.”
