Ermita fire victims get free water

VICTIMS of the fire in sitio Bato, barangay Ermita, Cebu City expressed gratitude for the free potable water provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District.

Four communal faucets were installed by MCWD a day after the fire as part of its corporate social res-ponsibility.

Ester Aparis, a fire victim and a housewife, said the free water is a big help.

Another fire victim said they would have starved to death long ago if not for the water supply.

“Patay gyud unta mi kun wala pa ang tubig sa MCWD. Wala na baya mi tubig kay nasunog apil among linya,” Jimmy Gingoyon said.

The water supply is available 24 hours.

The fire in sitio Bato last April 20 left 2,000 people homeless and a toddler dead.
