JUN-JUN DAVIDE OPEN TO OSMEÑA’S ADVICE
GOVERNOR-ELECT Hilario “Junjun” Davide III said he considers Tomas Osmena as a “mentor” and said he’s willing to accept advice from the outgoing Cebu City south district representative.
However, Davide said that does not necessarily require Osmeña to be part of his administration in the Cebu provincial government.
He said running the Cebu province is not an easy task thus he will need advice from experienced leaders such as Osmeña, who failed in his mayoralty bid in Cebu City against re-electionist Mayor Michael Rama.
Acting Cebu Gov. Agnes Magpale, who just got elected as vice -governor, said she does not see anything wrong with Osmeña’s offer to help Davide.
“I am my own person. I have no quarrels against Tommy. If the advice is good then we will consider it. If it’s wrong, we will not follow it,” she said.

TOMAS CALLS OF CITY HALL RALLIES
CEBU City south district Rep. Tomas Osmeña called off yesterday a plan by Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) supporters to gather at the City Hall grounds and protest his loss to Michael Rama in the mayoralty race.
Osmeña said that he would not allow any “physical activity” by his supporters which may disrupt City Hall operations.
“It is enough that we file an election protest,” he said.
The need to pacify his supporters was the reason why BOPK organized a thanksgiving party on Sunday.
“I just wanted to talk to everyone to cheer them up. I was even asking them at least three times if they wanted us to file an election protest and everyone said yes. An election protest is all that we are planning because I do not want to agitate our supporters,” he said.
The south district congressman lost to re-elected mayor Michael Rama by about 6, 000 votes during the May 13 election.
A separate election protest will also be filed by outgoing vice mayor Joy Augustus Young against vice mayor elect Edgardo Labella who was proclaimed on Thursday after winning the election by a slim margin of only 184 votes.
