Mandaue hosts 2 sporting events

IT’S  going to be a sporty day in Mandaue City as it hosts two sporting events in different venues today.

The Mandaue Sports Commission and Mandaue Runner’s Club will kick off the day with the 6th Mayor’s Cup Run starting at 5 a.m. The running event will be followed by the Inter-Company Sports Fest 2013 at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The running event will offer 15-kilometer, 7k and 3k distances. The 3k category will be divided into adults and kiddies competition. The 7k, meanwhile, is an inter-barangay competition that is exclusive for Mandaue City residents. Participants here must show a barangay clearance.

The Inter-Company Sports Fest will be participated by players from Coca-Cola and the Department of Labor and Employment, Region 7. The event features competition in volleyball, dancesports, bowling, badminton, lawn tennis, basketball, dama, chess, and table tennis.

Re-elected Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes is expected to grace the opening of the fun run to give a short message to the participants.  /CNU intern Nice Ann Teleron
