Dordoi caps bid with 6-1 demolition of Global FC

Two-time champion Dordoi Bishkek of Kyrzystan and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) of Pakistan advanced to the final stage of the  2013 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President’s Cup after both teams won their final matches yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Murzaev Mirlan once again exploded with four goals in Dordoi Bishkek’s 6-1 win over the Philippine’s Global FC, which failed to advance in the tournament.

Earlier, KRL routed Yeedzin, 8-0, to once again secure a spot in the final stage slated September. The team from Pakitan also advanced last year.

Kaleemullah scored five of KRL’s eight goals, matching the five goals that Mirlan scored in Dordoi Bishkek’s 9-0 defeat of Yeedzin last Friday. Both players posted a record of having scored the most number of goals in a single game in the history of the AFC President’s Cup.

Both Dordoi Bishkek and KRL finished with seven points coming from two wins and one draw. Kyrzygstan took the top spot in Group B by virtue of its 14-point goal difference while KRL managed 10 points.

Aside from defeating Global FC, Dordoi also thrashed Yeedzin then settled for a 1-all draw against KRL.

KRL, on the other hand, also won against Global FC, 2-0.

Global FC ended its first international campaign at third place with three points courtesy of its win against Yeedzin. Yeedzin never won a single game.

Global FC was aggressive on the its offense at the start of the match and was able to make its first attempt with just three minutes into the match.

The Filipinos eventually scored the first goal when Carli de Murga picked up a corner kick from Jeffrey Christiaens in the 8th minute.

But Dordoi Bishkek was able to level the match five minutes later on the first of Mirlan’s four goals.

Global FC’s Ben Starosta was called for a foul against David Bruce Tetteh, which resulted into a penalty kick that was converted by Mirlan.

As Global FC’s goalie Moussa Sanogo continued to fumble his saves, the team also bungled three attempts on offense going into halftime.

Mirlan continued to create havoc as Global FC’s Sanogo struggled to guard his post, prompting the home crowd to chant Ed Sacapano’s name. Sacapano is best remembered by Cebuanos as the goal keeper that saved the Azkals against the Singapore Lions in their friendly match here in Cebu last November.

In the 56th minute, Sanogo made a spectacle of himself by leaving his post and trying to score a goal on the other side, which later earned a remark from Dordoi Bishkek coach Dvoryankov Sergey. “He is a crazy man,” the coach said.

Global FC head coach Brian Reid defended his selection of Sanogo, saying it was gamble that he needed to take
