Caloocan mayor offers reward for identity of killers of veep’s aide
MANILA, Philippines—Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri has offered a P200, 000 reward for the immediate arrest of the men who killed the aide of his political rival Vice Mayor Edgar Erice.
In a statement on Friday, Echiverri announced that he is putting up the reward money so that “justice would be served” to the family of Samuel Delana, 44, a former purok leader and resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
Delana was a member of the staff of Erice, the accuser of Echiverri in a string of cases filed at the Office of the Ombudsman.
On Tuesday morning, two men aboard a motorcycle shot Delana in the face and chest while he was distributing leaflets in Bagong Silang.
His companion, Nelda Dioquino, the president of Parents-Teachers Association in Barangay Sto Nino, was shot in the hand. She was reported to be in stable condition at the Jose Rodriguez Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Northern Police District has released a computerized illustration of the gunman.
