San Carlos Heights wins Ubca title

THE Yoly Meso-led San Carlos Heights (SCH) nipped Grace Bostolits of Grace Petiluna, 92-90, Tuesday night to rule the Upper Bayanihan Catholic Association (UBCA)-2013, 2nd Season basketball tournament.

SCH appeared headed to an easy win after posting a commanding 13-point lead, 52-39 at the half.

But Grace Bostolits, the defending champion, responded with a big 26-15 run in the third to cut its deficit to only 2 points, 65-67, going into the final 10 minutes of the game.

The fourth period saw several lead changes with Grace Bostolits taking its last taste of the lead on Toly Petiluna’s booming triple for a, 90-89 advantage with 2.9 seconds remaining. But in the return play, Barak Ecojedo made a quick pass to an open Rowell Juban who uncorked a buzzer-beating triple for Grace Bostolits’s heart-stopping win.

FEATURED STORIES

Jun Sumargo led SCH with a night-high 32 points while Rowell Juban added 14 including the game-winning triple. Toly Petiluna paced Grace Bostolits with 15 markers.

In the battle for third, Predan Caballero had 21 points to lift Mariquit Aqua Ventures (MAV) to a, 92-86 victory over RCAF which was led by Boy Ramirez’s 21 points.
