SMB crushes Sport Rev for 14th straight victory
THERE simply is no stopping the San Miguel Beermen as they coasted to their 14th win in a row after getting past the Sport Rev Thailand Slammers, 78-61, in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) last Wednesday evening at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Backup guard Jeric Fortuna responded well in getting more minutes in the absence of starting point man Chris Banchero as he was key in a breakaway late in the third period that put them up by nine, 54-45, entering the final canto. They then coasted to the victory, their 17th in 20 games, with just two games remaining in the elimination round.
Fortuna finished with nine points but it was import Brian Williams that delivered the goods with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Asi Taulava added 12 while RJ Rizada chipped in 11 markers.
