Departing OFW returns money found at Naia
An Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was cited for her honesty after she returned over P82,000 in cash that she found in an envelope which had been left beneath a chair at the airport on Thursday.
Myra dela Cruz, a 35-year-old Pasay resident working as a physical therapist in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was waiting for her flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 9:30 a.m. when she found the envelope which contained 200,000 yen.
Written on the envelope was the following message: “To: Mommy & Daddy. Mis U!!! Aillen & Morris. Fr: Jovie and Just. Love you!”
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said Dela Cruz immediately called a friend at the National Bureau of Investigation outpost at the airport who accompanied her to the lost and found section.
The airport police used the public address system to try to find the owner but when no one came forward, they assumed that the owner had probably already boarded a plane without realizing that the envelope was missing.
Dela Cruz later flew out of the country on a plane that would take her to Hong Kong where she was to take a connecting flight to Riyadh.
