LABORER KILLED WHILE COOKING

A CONSTRUCTION worker was gunned down by three unidentified men in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.

Giovanni Gavas, 31, was preparing dinner when the assailants broke into his house and peppered him with bullets Monday night.

The victim’s mother told police that she dropped to the floor when gunshots broke out and later found her son with gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

She said one of the attackers was the same person who went to their house several times to meet her son.

GUNS SEIZED IN DANAO RAID

EIGHT assorted firearms were seized when police raided the house of a suspected gun runner in barangay Masaba, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Seized from the house of Noel Alburo were three .357 caliber revolvers, four magnum revolvers and an Ingram automatic pistol.

Alburo was not around during the raid conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) last Sunday.

A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Soliver Peras was used in the raid.

Supt. Nelvin Ricohermoso, deputy chief of CIDG-7, said they monitored Alburo for two weeks after they received reports that the was involved in gun running activities.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms will be filed against Alburo, police said./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

MAN FALLS IN BUY-BUST

A 41-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Bakilid II, Mandaue City on Monday night.

Two packs of suspected shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia were recovered from the possession of Roland Rosales, police said.

Rosales’ alleged cohort eluded arrest.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas.
