Group meets to discuss incoming museology and curation workshop

THE Visayas Association of Museums and Galleries Inc. (VAMGI) held its second meeting for 2013 at the University of San Carlos Museum last April 29.

Present were Malou Samson, VAMGI president; Jobers Bersales, VAMGI representative to National Committee on Museums; Msgr. Carlito Pono, immediate past president of VAMGI; Ben Chua from Chu-un Temple; Archt. Tony Abelgas and Imelda Saling from Museo Parian sa Sugbo; Dr. Rey Inocian from Cebu Normal University Museum; Tonette Pañares, heritage consultant; Ma. Cecilia Cabañes of Museo Sugbo; Maribel Emenido of Basilica del Sto. Niño Museum and Louella Eslao-Alix of the Cathedral Museum of Cebu.

Discussed during the meeting was the holding of a Basic Museology and Curation Workshop from May 29 to 31.

This project is funded by National Commission for Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Museums, in celebration of International Museum Day on May 18.

FEATURED STORIES

Invited speakers for the workshop are Danny Alvarez of Yuchengco Museum and Patrick Flores of UP Department of Art Studies.

Attendance to the workshop is open to museum professionals and heritage workers in the Visayas.
