FEATURED STORIES

AFTER NARROWLY escaping the dangerous Lyceum Pirates, the Letran Knights will try to use the lessons learned from that thrilling ride when they take on the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals today in the 87th NCAA basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.

The Knights are in possession of second place in the standings with a 5-2 (win-loss) record but the fifth win, a 92-89 squeaker over the Lyceum Pirates, was a hard one to get as they had to lean on a late three-pointer by Kevin Alas to secure the victory.

Alas finished with 24 in that match and got ample support from Jam Cortes and Kevin Racal, who had 14 and 13 respectively.

EAC is also coming off a 71-58 win over the Perpetual Help Altas for their third win in seven games.

The second game will see the St. Benilde Blazers face off against the basement-dwelling Arellano University Chiefs. The Blazers have stepped their game up this season and hold a 3-4 record. The Chiefs share the league’s worst record with the Altas at 1-6. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
