Box with baking soda causes bomb scare

AN unattended box near the Capitol, along M. Velez Street in barangay Capitol site caused a bomb scare yesterday morning.

When responding Special Weapons and Tactics operatives opened the box, it turned out to contain baking soda and salt.

The ten plastic packs labeled sodium bicarbonate or baking soda, sodium chloride or table salt, and potassium chloride (muriate of potash) were allegedly left by three ‘suspicious-looking’ men in an s empty lot near the Cebu Provincial Capitol building.

The SWAT team brought the package to the Cebu Provincial Police Office for examination.

Acting Cebu Gov. Agnes Magpale also ordered the Civil Security Unit to also investigate the incident.

Magpale, who was in Camotes at the time of the incident, said this should be investigated because there were a lot of employees passing by and eating in the area./Correspondents Peter Romanillos and Rene Alangilan
