EA Regens takes on Big Chill in D-League
AFTER ENGAGING in a surprising trade last week, the EA Regens and the Big Chill Superchargers hope that their new acquisitions pay off when they duke it out against one another in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup today at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
The Regens swapped Jeckster Apinan for Big Chill’s second-leading scorer Alex Nuyles last week.
The Regens, in particular, hope that the arrival of the high-scoring wingman brings new life to the squad in light of their 88-82 win over the Informatics Icons, a game wherein they needed every bit of production from Ian Sangalang and Raymund Almazan in order to snatch the victory.
Sangalang had 27 points while Almazan had 19 points and 22 boards to tow the Regens past the winless Icons.
Team Delta (5-3) have three more games remaining in the elimination round and another win today would enhance their chances for an outright semifinal spot.
Café France and Cagayan Valley battle each other in the other game at 2 p.m. with both teams also needing a crucial win. Café France and Cagayan Valley also have a chance for the coveted playoff positions but need to win their last two games. Both are tied for 5th and 6th spots with 5-5 records. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
