MCWD, DENR tie up for reforestation project
THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have joined hands to reforest 145 hectares of land within six years under the National Greening Program.
Diane Rallon of the Environment and Water Resources Division of MCWD said MCWD and DENR recently entered into an agreement for this project.
The specific areas are yet to be identified but Rallon said these are within the program areas of MCWD.
She however recognized that the erratic weather may be affecting the implementation of the project as bad weather affects the health of the seedlings.
“It is not just mere planting. The seedlings have to grow,” Rallon said.
MCWD has been active in its reforestation projects as part of its commitment to Mother Nature.
