8 alleged employees of Rizal provincial gov’t nabbed for gun ban violation

MANILA, Philippines – Government security forces have arrested eight persons said to be employees of the provincial capitol of Rizal Sunday night for violating the election gun ban, the military said.

Police and military personnel were manning a checkpoint on Sumulong Highway in Dela Paz village and stopped a white van bearing government license plate around 9:30 p.m., said Lieutenant Colonel Benedict Manquiquis of the Army’s 2nd infantry Division.

The arrested persons were identified as Leonard Mateo, Noel Cervo and Reynaldo Cerda of Binangonan, Rizal; Raldy Gregorio of Morong, Rizal; Ascher Maghintang of San Isidro, Rizal;  Christopher Rebong of Tanay, Rizal; Julius Benico, of Angono, Rizal; and Ronald Ted Esguerra of Antipolo City.

The military said three caliber.45 pistols, two caliber .38 revolvers, various ammunitions and fan knives were confiscated from the group.
