MANILA, Philippines—Manhunt operations continue for five more prisoners who bolted the Negros Occidental jail following the surrender of two more inmates Monday, bringing the number of recaptured escapees to eight.
Chief Inspector Edel Jose Manzano, Sagay City chief of police, identified the inmates who surrendered as Gilbert Manija and Armando Dilao, who are among the 13 inmates who escaped from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology cell in Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Most of the escapees are facing murder charges.
Manija and Dilao, who are both facing murder charges, “signified their willingness to surrender” through a filler received by police authorities.
Upon receiving the filler, Manzano said a police team was deployed to facilitate their surrender around 5:30 p.m.
