San Beda routs UP, 70-58
THE SAN Beda Red Lions spoiled the debut of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons as they gained their second win in a row with a 70-58 rout in the FilOil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup, yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The win gave the Red Lions a 2-1 (win-loss) record in Group A as they led dominated from opening tip until the final buzzer.
Veteran forward Rome dela Rosa had a perfect afternoon as he scored 18 points on 6-of-6 shooting while Ola Adeogun added 12 markers and seven boards.
The Red Lions zoomed off to a 24-13 lead after the first period behind the hot shooting of guard, Ryuzei Koga, and did not look back after that.
The Maroons were paced by the 13 of former La Salle gunner, Joseph Marata. Cebuano wingman Paul Desiderio had four points in his first taste of action for the Fighting Maroons.
The first game saw the Arellano University Chiefs defeat the Perpetual Help Altas, 74-65.
