Manila police catch up with wanted man
MANILA policemen announced yesterday the arrest of a man who also reportedly shot four barangay officials in Quezon province three months ago.
Operatives of the Manila Police District Police Intelligence Operations Unit (MPD-DPIOU) arrested Elmer Untalan, a 34-year-old resident of Basilio Street in Sampaloc, Manila, for brandishing a gun on Ronquillo Street in Sta. Cruz on Sunday night.
Untalan was subsequently charged before Assistant City Prosecutor Elen Nagtalon-Tumaliuan with breach of peace and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
But later on, the police learned that he was facing multiple frustrated murder charges before the Lucena City Prosecutor’s Office.
MPD-DPIOU head Chief Insp. Daniel Buyao said that his men arrested Untalan after they spotted him waving a gun and terrorizing people on Sunday night.
A records check showed that he was wanted in Quezon province for his involvement in a May 10 shooting where four officials in Barangay Manlana were wounded.
