Traffic volume up 13.3% on SLEx for Holy Week
Traffic volume went up by an average of 13.3 percent on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), Skyway and Star Tollway during the Holy Week break.
According to Skyway O & M Corp., Manila Toll Expressway System (MATES) and Star Tollway Corp., operators of the three road systems, an average of 190,000 vehicles used the Skyway System while 259,000 passed through SLEx and 37,000 on Star Tollway from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday.
Thanks to the Lakbay Alalay motorist assistance program launched in cooperation with Petron Corp., traffic flow was smooth as strategically located offsite pit stops were put up on the entire stretch of the south toll way from Magallanes to Batangas City.
The most common problems brought the attention of toll way traffic safety personnel, mechanics and members of the Highway Patrol Group were mechanical problems and flat tires.
Coordination with the Department of Transportation and Communications, the Toll Regulatory Board, partners from the local government units and the private sector also helped ensure the safety and comfort of motorists at all times.
For those traveling on any of the toll ways, the following hotlines are open for complaints or suggestions: Skyway–7767777, MATES–0917-OUR-SLEX (6877530) and Star Tollway–0908-865STAR (7827).
