Conference on ageing culminates today

THE Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) is hosting the 20th biennial general conference of the Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC) at the Cebu Parklane Hotel.

The conference with the theme “Ageing in Asia Pacific: Balancing the State and the Family” started yesterday and will run until today.

The conference will be participated in by paper-writers and representatives of the member-organizations of AASSREC from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific.

Participants will examine the role, responsibilities and contributions of the state and the family in providing a supportive environment and in increasing the usefulness and participation of ageing citizens.

FEATURED STORIES

Sen. Edgardo Angara and Yasuhiko Saito of Nihon University, Japan are the keynote speakers.

The conference is also open to non-AASSREC scholars, program implementors, service providers, policymakers and other professionals.
