Fire razes residential block in Gagalangin, Tondo

MANILA, Philippines—Fire razed a still undetermined number of houses in Tondo, Manila Thursday, a city fire officer said.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Marson Perez said the blaze swept through a residential block on Juan Luna and Avellana streets in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila at 11:39 a.m.

“Hindi naman squatters’ area, pero dikit-dikit ang mga bahay (It’s not a squatters’ area, but the place was jampacked with houses),” Perez said.

The fire reached fifth alarm at 11:51 p..m., he said, but added that no injuries were reported so far.
