One hurt, 10 families homeless as fire hit shanties in Taguig
MANILA, Philippines — A man was wounded and over 10 families were displaced when fire gutted a shanty community in Taguig City Tuesday evening, a city fire officer said Wednesday.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Pedrito Polo said 14 houses on the East Service Road, Western Bicutan went up in smoke East Service Road, Western Bicutan around 8:40 p.m.
He said Roger Abrasaldo, 49, was injured after sustaining first degree burns on the right side of his body.
The fire reached first alarm before it was put out around 9:45 p.m.
While authorities have yet to determine the cause, Abrasaldo said the fire may have started from a factory where Abrasaldo was working as a caretaker.
“May maliit lang sya na kwarto doon sa factory,” Polo said.

he seemed drunk as he was being interviewed.
The cost of damages from the fire was estimated at P150,000.
