Tambisan volunteers show firefighting skills

/ 08:26 AM March 27, 2013

THE TAMBISAN Volunteer Fire Brigade (TVFB) showed off its fire fighting manpower and equipment in a simple parade around sitio Tambisan in barangay Ibabao-Estancia in Mandaue City recently as part of its Fire Prevention Month awareness campaign.

The TVFB was founded in August 2009 by sitio Tambisan resident Farley Macasero after three fire alarms hit the area and threatened to burn a large part of the sitio.

Macasero then founded the group made up of volunteers from sitio Tambisan. The Mandaue City Fire Department and the Energency Rescue Unit Foundation, and the Mandaue City government help hone the volunteers’ firefighting skills.

The TVFB managed to acquire some firefighting and first aide equipment but the group admitted it still needed more  important equipment to make it a fully equipped firefighting brigade and emergency first response team. Despite this, the TVFB is still proud of its capabilities as it managed to keep the sitio fire free for the past three years.
