PANGASINAN—After an entrapment operation, police on Wednesday arrested a man who pretended to be a priest when he tried to extort money from a trader here.

Danny de Vera, 51, of Mangaldan town, introduced himself as Fr. Robert Mejia  when he telephoned Lucia Moulic-de Vera, a townmate, and asked for a certain amount, police said.

De Vera, who, police said, had been implicated in other swindling cases, set a meeting with the businesswoman, who alerted the police.

The lawmen placed their meeting under surveillance and arrested the suspect. Yolanda Sotelo, Inquirer Northern Luzon
