Go on journey of faith with Jesus, Tagle urges Catholics
MANILA, Philippines—As hordes of Filipinos prepare to hit the beach this Holy Week, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle urged Catholics to go “on a journey of faith with Jesus” and learn more about newly elected Pope Francis.
Tagle urged his flock to spare some time to deepen their faith as Christendom begins its most solemn periods with Palm Sunday celebrations on Sunday.
“We hope that this … Holy Week may really be a journey of faith with Jesus. It is not easy to walk with Jesus who will die on the Cross. It’s really faith that will enable us to journey with Jesus who will suffer out of love for us,” Tagle said.
“(By) journeying with Jesus, hopefully we can journey with one another especially those who are suffering and bring them love too so that we could also experience the resurrection or new life,” he added.
Tagle urged the clergy and religious to use Holy Week services to get to know Pope Francis and the significance of his election.
