Suspect in Maguindanao massacre killed in clash with cops
MANILA, Philippines—A suspect in the infamous Maguindanao massacre was killed and several people were injured when he and his companions allegedly shot it out with authorities in an attempt to evade arrest, police said.
Senior Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, Maguindanao provincial director, identified the suspect as Datu Dainga Ampatuan, who was killed in a nearly six-hour fire fight in Kuloy village, Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao that started around 10 a.m.
Jocson said six police officers, including himself, sustained leg injuries.
Dainga had a P250,000 bounty for his arrest.
Jocson also said 12 high-powered firearms were confiscated.
