Young man killed by friend in Lapu-Lapu
A 21-year-old man was killed while his neighbor was wounded after they were shot by their friend identified as “Totong” in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City at dawn yesterday.
Police couldn’t determine right away what triggered the attack.
Jalil Sultan died on the spot due to a gunshot wound in the head. Jaril Kandayo was wounded in the left arm.
Police said the victims rode on the suspect’s motorcycle on their way to barangay Agus where they agreed to have a drinking session.
When they arrived in Agus at 1:30 a.m., Totong asked his two friends to get off.
Shortly after the two victims got off the motorcycle, Totong drew a gun and started shooting, police said.

Article continues after this advertisementAccompanied by police, the victim’s relatives went back to the place where the shooting took place and found Sultan slumped on the ground.
The victim was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but he was declared dead.
Kadayo told police that the attack caught him by surprise since since they didn’t argued with the suspect.
Police conducted a follow-up operation but failed to locate the suspect.
An hour earlier, a jeepney dispatcher was shot and wounded by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in the same barangay.
Virgilio Recarte, 43, was calling passengers when he was shot in a terminal.
The assailants drove after the attack.
Recarte was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital with two gunshot wounds in the back.
Police said no one was able to jot down the plate number or any markings of the motorcycle used by the perpetrators.
Police are eyeing illegal drugs and personal grudges as possible motives of the atttack.
