Win streak still alive for Class 1996
THE FIRST FAMILY Appliance Circle ’96 pushed its winning streak to nine games after beating Fil-Anne 2009, 43-29, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Thursday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Shaun Christopher Wang had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Dreyfuss Ang had a record-setting eight steals on top of 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Class ’96, which led wire to wire in this one-sided contest.
Alfie Dwight Miranda Sy had 15 points and three rebounds but could not do anything to prevent Class 2009 from absorbing its seventh loss against only one win.
In the first game, Joseph Aljhune Areja chalked up 26 points, four steals and three assists, while Kevin Mamac, Randy Sypongco and Rodney Lindimar Co each scored 12 as Best World Lifestyle came back to trounce Jepoy ’99, 70-61, to improve its win-loss record to 5-3.
Class 2004 trailed for most of the way but outscored its opponents, 23-10, in the final canto to snatch the win up and spoil Mark Bukiron’s 35-point performance for Class ’99, which fell to 5-4.
