P300,000 reward for jailbird’s capture
Reward money of P300,000 awaits anyone who can tip off police on the whereabouts of the leader of a notorious robbery group who had been put in jail but was rescued by his companions in a daring operation.
Ricky Cadavero had already been convicted and sentenced to 269 years in prison for robbing establishments in Metro Manila and nearby provinces when he escaped last year.
In a press conference Tuesday at the Mandaluyong City Police headquarters, National Capital Region Police Office chief Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina said civil society groups had raised P300,000 as bounty on Cadavero’s head.
Police said Cadavero’s group was responsible for heists at a Western Union branch in Parañaque City and at Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa City last year, as well as in Cavite and Laguna provinces.
Espina said Cadavero once robbed a car shop owner of tires and rims worth P160,000.
“He didn’t have any money so he held up the owner and took off with items. That’s just one of his cases. He deserves the sentence he got— 269 years,” he added.
