Security guard mauled, stabbed dead in Lapu-Lapu

A security guard was mauled and stabbed to death by still-unidentified persons who may have mistaken him to be a thief in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Saddat Dacula, a native of Zamboanga, Sibugay suffered bruises all over the body and a stab wound in the chest.

Dacula was employed by JOL Security Agency. He was detailed at Florem Building in A.C. Cortes Avenue in Mandue City.

Prior to the attack, the man had been stalking his girlfriend after the woman turned down the man’s offer to bring her home on Tuesday night.

Police said the woman, Cecilia Rivera, 22, works in a mall. The couple both live in the barangay.

The woman arrived in her boarding house at 10:30 p.m. without noticing that the man had been tailing him.

Rivera told police that while she was in her room, she saw a man peeping at her.

The woman shouted for help, thinking that the man outside was a thief.

The woman said she later heard a commotion outside the apartment.

Dacula was later found sprawled on Sudtongan Road. Police went to Rivera’s boarding house after they were told that the man was her boyfriend.

Rivera confirmed that the man sprawled on the ground was her boyfriend. Dacula was declared dead at the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.

Investigation is ongoing to identify the persons who attacked the victim, police said.
