Tanod in Lapu-Lapu shot
A 43-YEAR-OLD village watchman was shot while walking home in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday evening.
Ruben Potot sustained a gunshot wound in the right cheek.
The assailant escaped after the attack.
Police withheld the name of the assailant to avoid hampering operations to arrest him.
Police said the assailant and Potot had a drinking session in a wake of the victim’s uncle.
At the drinking session, Potot reprimanded the assailant for allegedly causing trouble in the barangay.
Police said Potot warned the man that he will personally arrest him if he will not stop his antics.
The man left ahead of the group.
Police said the suspect apparently waited for the victim to go home before attacking him.
The victim sought help from neighbors who took him to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospita.
The victim was later moved to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City to remove the slug in the cheek./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
