Schoenstatt Movement announces national convention next month
AROUND 300 participants are expected to attend the Schoenstatt national convention at the Schoenstatt Spirituality Center in barangay Lawaan, Talisay City, Cebu on March 15-18.
The event is in line with the 25th anniversary of Walking with Mary in the Philippines with the theme, “In gratitude and faith, sent forth to fulfill the Schoenstatt Mission of our time.”
It is also in preparation for the centennial celebration of Schoenstatt International Jubilee in Schoenstatt, Germany on October 2014, said Sr. Charito Maria Olvido, national convention chairperson.
“We are glad that we have a replica of the Archdiocese Shrine of Our Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt,” said Olvido, referring to the Shrine of Our Lady of Schoenstatt in Lawaan, which is among the 200 shrines worldwide.
Olvido said the original shrine is in Schoenstatt, the origin of the Sisters of Mary.
The event on March is also in line with the 10th year declaration of the Schoenstatt sanctuary as archdiocesan shrine by Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal in July 20, 2003. The movement arrived in the country in Oct. 26, 1987.
