2 dead, 120,000 affected by ‘Crising’

MANILA, Philippines—Two people died while about 120,000 have been affected by Tropical Depression “Crising” which continues to move west northwest closer to Southern Palawan Thursday.

The latest victim, Erwin Campana, 43, from Barangay (Village) Camansi, Montevista, Compostela Valley, drowned after being swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross a river, according to the latest report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The first casualty, identified as Francisco Digaynon from Barangay (Andap), New Bataan, Compostela Valley, also died while trying to cross a swollen river.

Four people from Lanao del Norte were injured while two others, identified as Percela Apolinario and Suden Abdullah, were missing, the report said.

As of 4 a.m. Thursday, “Crising” was seen 450 kilometers Northwest of Zamboanga City moving West Northwest away from the country at 15 kilometers per hour.

Signal No. 1 was still up in Southern Palawan, according to the NDRRMC.

Crising has so far affected 120,000 people mostly in Mindanao.
