Bishop optimistic on Aquino’s Mindanao visit

COTABATO, Philippines – Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo is optimistic about President Benigno Aquino III’s visit to a Moro  Islamic Liberation Front camp, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Monday.

The report said Bagaforo has expressed confidence that Aquino and the MILF leaders will establish mutual trust for the success of the peace agreement.

But the prelate warned that the Bangsamoro Framework Agreement without transparency will be useless.

Aquino will tackle transitional issues of the peace agreement on Monday in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

The MILF last October signed a “framework agreement” with Aquino’s administration committing both sides to form a new autonomous entity on Mindanao by 2016 to end a decades-long guerrilla war for a separate state.  John Daryl Dimalanta
