2 money lenders shot dead in Laguna
MANILA, Philippines—Two people, including an Indian national, were allegedly shot dead Sunday by motorcycle-riding suspects in Laguna, police said on Monday.
Police Officer 2 Danny Christopher Camhit identified the slain victims as Palwinder Singh, 52, and Riz Lazarte, 32, who were said to be partners in their lending business in a 5-6 scheme.
Camhit said Singh and Lazarte were onboard a Suzuki motorcycle (4093-DE) and were travelling along the National Highway in Barangay (village) Masiit, Calauan, Laguna around 12:45 p.m. Sunday when two unidentified male motorcycle-riding suspects allegedly overtook and opened fire at them.
Camhit said the victims died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies, while the suspects drove off towards Calauan town proper.
Five spent shells from a caliber .45 were recovered from the crime scene.
Motive remains unclear as of Monday, Camhit said, but added that a follow-up operation was being conducted for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
