/ 08:04 AM February 09, 2013

THE newly rehabilitated Plaza Independencia will serve as venue of the February 12 proclamation rally of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), Rep. Benhur Salimbangon of Cebu’s fourth district said.

Salimbangon said that UNA leaders led by Vice President Jejomar Binay, former president Joseph Estrada and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile are expected to arrive in Cebu on Tuesday morning to lead the rally which is scheduled at 3 p.m.

Toledo City Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo said that suspended Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia sent them word on Monday that the UNA rally first planned in their city will no longer push through.

“She did not say why, but maybe it is because of accessibility,” said Zambo.

Salimbangon said yesterday that he will also be attending the UNA rally with other fourth district allies.

While they are not directly involved in the preparations, Salimbangon said, they have already made arrangements to also bring their supporters to also show their support for the UNA candidates./Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac with reports from Correspondent Edison Delos Angeles
