2 computer shops lose P.5M to robbers in Caloocan City

The owners of two computer shops in Caloocan City lost nearly half a million pesos worth of equipment to thieves who broke into their establishments.

Geralyn Tabano, owner of Kenz and MJ Gamer Hawz Computer Shop on Larangay Street corner Padas Alley, told the police that she lost 10 central processing units and 10 computer monitors worth P180,000.

On the other hand, Dennis Canlas who owns Asobi Computer Shop on William Shaw Street, reported that thieves made off with 13 desktop computers sets which included the CPUs, monitors and keyboards. The cost of the equipment was estimated at around P300,000.

Police reports showed that Tabano was woken up by her neighbors at 3 a.m. Tuesday after they noticed that her computer shop’s roller guard shutters and glass door were open. When she went to the establishment to check, she found out that someone had taken the computers and immediately reported it to the police.

Meanwhile, the caretaker of Asobi Computer Shop discovered the theft when he went to the establishment at 5 a.m. to prepare for its opening.

In both cases, the police found out that the robbers had destroyed the padlocks securing the computer shops’ main doors and rolling guard shutters.

The police have yet to identify the thieves in both cases although they are not discounting the possibility that it may have been carried out by the same group.
