COA hosts Asian state auditors’ meet

MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Audit will host the 46th Governing Board (GB) Meeting of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (Asosai) that will bring together Asian leaders in the field of government audit on Feb. 17-21.

President Benigno Aquino III will be the guest of honor at the welcome lunch to be held at the Malacañang Palace on Feb. 18.

COA chair Maria Gracia Pulido Tan said her counterparts from India, Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Turkey  will attend the meeting  to discuss international audit standards, transparency and other pressing issues in international audit.

“We are truly honored to be hosting this prestigious event,” said Tan. “Preparations are underway and it is our greatest desire to ensure that the Governing Board Meeting will be seamless and successful.”

Asosai is an international organization composed of the Supreme Audit Institutions of 46 member countries in Asia.

Also expected to attend are the head of the Supreme Audit Institution of Norway as representative of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (Intosai), delegates from Brunei Darussalam and the International Development Initiative (IDI).

The Philippines had already hosted three Asosai GB meetings. Tan was elected to the GB at the 12th Asosai assembly held in Jaipur, India, on March 3, 2012.
