Thief caught inside MMDA chairman’s office

/ 10:54 PM January 28, 2013

The robber caught inside Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino’s office wasn’t after any document, according to the Makati police.

Case investigator SPO1 Romeo Peñaflor said that although papers and folders were found strewn all over Tolentino’s table, Hilbert Mongcano had no intention of taking any of them. “He had targeted only the valuables, the watches, bags and other gadgets,” Peñaflor said.

He added that Mongcano tried but failed to open the vault inside the office. Mongcano, a resident of Barangay (village) Pinagkaisahan in Makati City, was arrested Sunday afternoon inside Tolentino’s office at the MMDA building in Guadalupe after he found himself trapped inside the toilet.

Seized from him were a watch, some pieces of jewelry, cell phones and cash.—Noli A Ermitanio
