MASIAO IN ARGAO

Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) chief Senior. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr. said he is open to investigate his men on a masiao arrest if a complaint will be lodged in his office.

This after Argao public officials sought the relief of a policeman for allegedly protecting illegal gambling operations in the town.

But police countered that town officials are behind the illegal gambling operations.

Comendador said relief is not the answer. He said he will investigate the case.

The official said the city council could not instruct police officers on what to do but they can work hand in hand with the town mayor.

A man was found lying lifeless on the floor of his rented room in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday.

Alfredo Escobal 27, a driver of a soft drink company, was already in a state of decomposition when he was discovered by his landlady, Jocelyn Acosta.

Police investigation revealed that Odjet Sasan, also a boarder, saw blood flowing from Escobal’s door on the floor. Sasan tried to clean the mess but blood continued flowing.

Sasan said he alerted Acosta when he smelled foul odor from Escobal’s room.

They knocked on Escobal’s door but there was no answer. It was then that they forced the door open and discovered the victim.

Although there was no sign of struggle or foul play in the room, police said the body would be subjected for autopsy.

According to Acosta, Escobal started renting the room last July 25. She never noticed he had illness and that was the first and last time she saw him.correspondent norma mendoza
