Low pressure area dissipates

MANILA, Philippines—The low pressure area observed in General Santos City has dissipated, the state weather bureau said Wednesday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration added, however, that a diffused tail-end of a cold front will prevail in Eastern Visayas, bringing light to moderate rains.

The Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms, it said.

In Luzon, the northeast monsoon, or “hanging habagat,” referring to cold winds blowing in from Siberia, remained the prevalent weather system, weathermen said.

“Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Calabarzon and Mimaropa and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains. The rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy skies with brief light rains,” Pagasa said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.—With DJ Yap, Philippine Daily Inquirer
