MANILA, Philippines –  Senate  President  Juan Ponce-Enrile’s  blood pressure  shot up to 180/100 after a heated exchange on Wednesday with Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.

“His blood pressure rose to 180/100…,”  Senate Pro-Tempore Jose  Estrada told reporters  when  the session was suspended amid a heated debate between Enrile and Cayetano.

Estrada said Enrile was advised by  some senators to take a rest first  but insisted to go back to the session hall to answer the allegations hurled at him by the Minority Leader.

When  the session resumed, a calm Enrile  took the floor  and enumerated  the Senate’s expenses for 2012.
