Quezon City gov’t moves tax payment deadline to Jan. 31

/ 12:06 AM January 23, 2013

The Quezon City Council has extended the deadline for the payment of business taxes, charges and fees for the first quarter of the year to Jan. 31. Monday, Jan. 21, was supposed to be the last day for tax payments after the Jan. 20 deadline fell on a Sunday.

The city council cited the “large number of taxpayers expected to flock to the Quezon City Hall compound and the limitation of the existing manpower of the city treasurer’s office” in justifying the deadline extension.

There are some 63,000 registered business establishments in Quezon City. In a statement, Office of the Mayor chief of staff Aldrin Cuña said that apart from the new deadline, the working hours of office personnel involved in tax assessment and payments have also been extended to accommodate taxpayers.—Jeannette I.
