Suspected NPA rebels ransack homes of 3 soldiers in Misamis Oriental

MANILA, Philippines—Suspected communist rebels raided three residences in Misamis Oriental Tuesday morning and carted away military gears, the military said.

Lieutenant Colonel Eugenio Osias IV of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division said about 25 rebels believed to be members of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee of the New People’s Army “simultaneously ransacked” the residences of Private First Class Benjamin Timbal of the 58th Infantry Battalion; retired Staff Sergeant Eliseo Salvacion; and retired Police Officer4 Ananias Requerme in Purok 4, Poblacion village in Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental at about 6 a.m.

The rebels carted away military uniforms, combat boots and other military end items and immediately fled after the incident.

Pursuit operations are on progress, Osias said.
