Pagasa warns: It’s gonna get colder
MANILA, Philippines—Metro Manila residents are advised to bundle up in the early morning hours until February, after thermometer levels dipped below 20 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday’s early morning chill in the capital region was slightly warmer than the 18.8 degrees registered last week.
Forecaster Fernando Cada observed that the low temperatures brought by the amihan (northeast monsoon), which usually comes in December, was just now settling on Luzon and the Visayas.
Cada said they recorded the lowest temperature Sunday at 19.8 degrees Celsius at around 5 a.m. but said that the coldest day in Metro Manila occurred Jan. 17, when the observatory at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) registered 18.8 degrees Celsius.
He added that the lowest temperatures are usually recorded between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Meanwhile, in its 5 p.m. forecast, Pagasa said it anticipated Mindanao to experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers or thunderstorms. The weather in eastern Visayas, the Bicol region, Cagayan Valley as well as the provinces of Aurora and Quezon is expected to be cloudy with light rains. The tail end of the cold front remains in effect over northern Mindanao.
